The Charm Of Integrability: From Nonlinear Waves To Random Matrices

The modern theory of integrable systems started with the discovery of integrability in a system with infinite degree of freedom, namely the Korteweg de Vries equation. Such equation, and many other integrable equations have a particular class of solutions called solitons that behave like an interacting particle system. I will consider the behavior of a soliton gas, and describe open problems. Next I will consider a class of integrable systems with random initial data and show its connection to random matrices.No Notes/Supplements Uploaded
