Unimodality of Ehrhart h*-vectors for lattice polytopes has attracted a significant amount of attention over the past 15+ years. However, the causes of this phenomenon are not well-understood. We will provide a survey of what is known about unimodality of h*-vectors, highlight recent developments in this area, and discuss open problems.
