Amy Cohen-Corwin has her undergraduate and graduate degrees in math from Harvard and Berkeley. She has been on the Rutgers mathematics faculty since 1972. Her research interests have focused on non-linear PDE's, especially the Korteweg-deVries equation and the cubic Schrodinger equation -- both of which are amenable to the inverse scattering method. Her interest in teaching was sharpened by her work in Project SEED in Berkeley in 1970. Since then she has worked extensively on projects to make undergraduate education more satisfying for faculty and students alike and, more recently, on projects enhancing the mathematical education of pre-service and in-service teachers. She is PI on an MSP Institute grant, "New Jersey Partnership for Excellence in Middle School Mathematics". |
