Personal Profile of Darryl Yong

Darryl Yong was trained in applied mathematics at the University of Washington, where he received his PhD under the direction of Jirair Kevorkian. He is currently an Associate Professor of Mathematics at Harvey Mudd College, and his scholarly activities focus on the retention and training of secondary school mathematics teachers, and improving undergraduate mathematics education. As the Associate Dean for Diversity at Harvey Mudd College, he also works to broaden participation in all STEM fields and build institutional capacity for increasing diversity and inclusion. Darryl sits on the Steering Committee for Math for America Los Angeles and helps to design professional development for all of its participants. He has been an instructor for the Secondary School Teacher Program at IAS/Park City Mathematics Institute since 2007.
