Ivelisse M. Rubio is Professor in the Computer Science Department of the University of Puerto Rico at Río Piedras. Professor Rubio has been involved in many activities to promote minority undergraduate students to graduate studies. In 1998 she co-founded the REU-Summer Institute in Mathematics for Undergraduates (SIMU) at the UPR-Humacao and is one of the Co-directors of MSRI-UP, the summer undergraduate research program at MSRI. She was part of the Organizing Committee of the Promoting Undergraduate Research in Mathematics Conference in 2006 and has co-organized the mathematics activities at the SACNAS conference for the past seven years. Her research interests are computational algebra, finite fields, and coding theory, and she has directed the research of over 15 mathematics and computer science undergraduate students in these areas. |
